When you walk through the doors of Van Demon Fitness you recognize that there’s something unique happening. It may not be clear to you what it is, but you soon realise that you want to be a part of it. That unyielding driving force that hits you is what our Centre is built on. Our training techniques differ from other centres because we don’t just use Strongman movements as a trendy training tool; we don’t claim to be “functional” because it’s the new way to train! Strongman movements are at the core of what we do. “Unconventional” is our way of training, it’s who we are not who we pretend to be. Why? Because our methods work…simple!

This place, and the people around you, will teach you lessons that many refuse to accept or are too scared to discover and live by.  This place can be for everyone, but it’s not. Some decide that our principles – our code – push them to be something they’re uncomfortable with.  That’s, of course, their choice.  But is the easy road really worth travelling? Heath Barwick

Owner/Trainer

Heath has been working in the fitness industry for over 20 years as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach, starting his career as a sub unit PTI in the Australian Defence Force.

He developed an extensive experience in training individuals to reach their personal fitness goals; however Heath has also trained professional athletes in many fields including AFL, Cricket, MotoCross, Boxing, MMA and even an elite level jockey! Heath is a qualified Certificate III & IV personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, kettlebell instructor and Master functional trainer.

Heath started Van Demon Fitness as a result of seeing a glaring hole in what typical gyms offer. “At VDF you will get results you have only ever imagined!”

Bill Leaman

Trainer

Bill has been working part-time as a personal trainer for the last 8 years or so. He started working from home before being asked by Heath to join the VDF team. Bill has been training since the age of 16 and has been to a number gyms during that time, but states that none compare to VDF.

He currently has his Certificate III & IV in fitness, Master of Functional Training (Australian Institute of Kettlebells), and has completed his Diploma in Fitness. Bill loves all sports in particular – cricket, football, tennis and golf.

When Bill isn’t training, he is working as a Tasmanian Fire Fighter.

Favourite superhero- Superman (who else is there?)
